What this site is about
DerDenker explains the basics that make a difference when working with AI: what context it knows, what it remembers, how clear instructions change its answers, how the way a question is framed influences the response, how it arrives at conclusions, and when sources matter.
The foundations provide the starting point. The articles pick up interesting questions, observations, and examples and explore what they mean in practice. Sometimes a clear explanation is enough; sometimes a comparison or a small experiment helps.
I have worked in IT for around 30 years and studied Information Systems. Since ChatGPT became part of everyday life, people have increasingly asked me how these systems actually work. Why does AI sometimes give contradictory answers? Why might one person get a different answer from another? And how much can we trust what it tells us?
Those conversations eventually gave me the idea for DerDenker. I wanted to explore the questions that kept coming up, both for me and for others, and explain them in a way that makes sense without needing a degree in IT.
DerDenker is a private, non-commercial project. I am not selling anything here, nor am I trying to tell anyone what to think about AI. My aim is to make things easier to understand so that readers can form their own opinions.
Agreement has to be earned. So does disagreement.

If a claim can be checked, it should be checked.
How AI is used here
AI is not only the subject of the articles on this site. It is also used for research, structuring, cross-checking, discussion, and sometimes for drafting.
That makes transparency especially important. Claims from external sources should be traceable. Quotes are only used when the author and wording can be verified. And when something remains uncertain, that should be stated clearly.
